Dark Knight Leads Saturn Nominations

Batman movie The Dark Knight is leading the way at the upcoming Saturn Awards - garnering a massive 11 nominations.

The film will compete in categories including best action/adventure/thriller film - going up against Changeling, Gran Torino, Quantum of Solace, Traitor and Valkyrie.

Christian Bale, the picture's star, also received a nod for best film actor along with Tom Cruise (Valkyrie), Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), Brad Pitt (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and Will Smith (Hancock).

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and comic book blockbuster Iron Man are the other major contenders at the prizegiving, with nine and eight nominations respectively.

In the television categories, mystery drama Lost leads with 11 nominations, followed by Heroes with six.

The ceremony - held by Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror - aims to recognise genre filmmaking and will take place on 25 June.
