British actor CHRISTIAN BALE gave up smoking - after setting fire to his hair.
The AMERICAN PSYCHO (2000) star, soon to be seen in CAPTAIN CORELLI'S MANDOLIN (2001), was showing off a musical lighter to a journalist, when he accidentally set his barnet in flames. He says, "I know it's an actor's job to make a fool of himself, but I gave up smoking after that." (ES/GL/NFA)
